I am an evolutionary ecologist interested in how environmental heterogeneity shapes the geographic distribution of genetic and phenotypic variation in wild animals through prezygotic reproductive isolation. To address this, I use genome-wide DNA sequences and SNPs together with broad- and fine-scale environmental data and functionally relevant phenotypic traits. These data are analyzed within a multidisciplinary land- and riverscape genomics framework. My goal is to produce fundamental scientific knowledge with applications to conservation. I am currently investigating how natural and anthropogenic barriers to gene flow influence the evolution of Crenicichla spp. within an adaptive radiation in southern Brazil.
